Bernia Ridge East Summit (attempt) - 20 March

It all started swimmingly, we gained the ridge at the correct col, enjoyed the views (you really don't need to get any nearer Benidorm than this) and followed the faint, cairned path away from the col.

The problem is that the only cairned path, faint or otherwise, doesn't go along the ridge but below it, well below. Realising we were in the wrong place we retraced our steps almost back to the col and scoured the hillside looking for another cairned path. In the end, we just gave up. Subsequently we found a sequence of photos from a successful attempt and we were in the right place but the absence of cairns led us to conclude we were wrong. Perhaps next year?
