Some Mamores – 30 May

A year to the day after our first visit to the Mamores we went back to the western end of the ridge. Climbing out of Glen Nevis to Mullach nan Coirean. Despite the promising start to the day, the rain forecast for the morning wasn’t long in arriving but by the time we reached the ridge it had blown through and the clouds were starting to break up again.

Mamores - 002 West over Loch Linne

Mamores - 003West to Beinn a Bheithir above Ballachullish

From the west Stob Ban isn’t the most spectacular of hills and descending the ridge eastwards you are too close to the cliffs to fully appreciate them. Looking back from Sgurr an Lubhair, however, they are magnificent.

Finally, as the weather continued to improve, even the The Ben shrugged off its cloud cover as we descended back to the valley floor.
